She was enlisted as a supporting character in the movie Basic Instinct. It was the start of her career career. It was in the movie The Firm however that she was chosen as the leading female character for the very first time. She was cast in the film alongside famous actors such as Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman. Through the 1990s she collaborated alongside some of the most renowned stars in the industry including Gwyneth Paltrow as Sliding Doors, Hugh Grant in Mickey Blue Eyes and Julie Andrews in Relative Values. Recently she played Dr Alex Blake in the internationally popular police procedural crime drama Criminal Minds.
